Expert Tips

*To toast pecans, heat oven to 350°F. Spread pecans in ungreased shallow pan. Bake uncovered 6 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until light brown.

No-trans-fat 68% vegetable oil spread can be substituted for the butter. The cookies will spread less and retain a more rounded shape.

These came out pretty good. They were cake-like and the cranberries added a chewiness. I ground up the nuts instead of having big chunks in there. My kids loved them also! Great for a chocolate fix.

So my kids wanted to make a brownie cookie and we are trying to eat healthier. I came across this recipe and it looked awesome. I tried it out last night with only chocolate chips, cause my kids won't eat the nuts or cranberries, and they loved it! I then took a smaller portion of the dough and added the cranberries and nuts. I should have only eaten the 1 cookie, but couldn't help myself. I ate all 3 cookies that I had baked. They were DElish!!!! Will definately be making these again. Might even try white chocolate chips or even peanut butter chips!!!

Great cookie recipe that has definitely replaced my usual chocolate recipe. Still seems a little high in calories so I refrigerate the cookie dough and bake only 9-12 at a time. I plan to try cachoeira's ideas to see if they can be made even healthier.
