Spring is the perfect time to get a little playful in the kitchen—everything is coming back to life outside, so it's time to liven up your baking as well! These cute-as-can-be brownies feature PEEPS® chicks frolicking in a field of Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy frosting, tinted green and applied with a grass piping tip. Add colorful candies like eggs and sprinkles to bring your blooming brownie meadow to life!

1 box Betty Crocker™ Supreme Triple Chunk Brownie Mix
Water, vegetable oil, and egg called for on brownie mix box
1 cup from 1 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Vanilla Frosting
Great Value™ classic green gel food color
16 PEEPS® brand marshmallow chicks
Great Value™ pastel-colored sprinkle mix, as desired
Assorted Easter candies (pastel candy-coated chocolate candies, pastel candy-coated chocolate eggs), as desired

Instructions

Step 1
Heat oven to 325°F (350°F for glass pan). Line 9-inch square pan with foil, allowing some to hang over edges of pan. Spray bottom and sides of foil with cooking spray. Make brownie batter as directed on box; spread in pan.

Step 2
Bake 37 to 42 minutes (34 to 39 minutes for nonstick pan) or until toothpick inserted 2 inches from side of pan comes out almost clean. Cool completely, about 1 hour 30 minutes.

Step 3
Using foil to lift, remove brownies from pan, and carefully peel away foil. Transfer brownies to serving platter. In small bowl, mix frosting and food color to desired color. Transfer frosting to decorating bag fitted with grass piping tip; pipe onto brownies.

Step 4
Using photo as a guide, top with 5 PEEPS® chicks, spacing randomly across top. Add sprinkles and candies.

Step 5
To serve, cut brownies into 4 rows by 4 rows; add remaining PEEPS® chicks so each brownie has a chick. Store loosely covered at room temperature.

Recipe Tips

To get a grass effect without the use of a decorating bag, spread frosting onto brownies. Using tines of fork, pull up on frosting to get a grass look.
We line the pan with foil to make removing the brownies for cutting easier. It also helps with cleanup!
Though the frosting is best done by a more experienced baker, kids can still get in on the fun by adding the finishing touches. Have them place the PEEPS® chicks and add the sprinkles and candies.
