Save time and money by making a batch of this Mexican ground beef ahead of time. Freeze it in two-cup quantities and use it as a starter for your favorite recipes that call for one pound of ground beef with taco seasoning. Here’s how to do it!
In a 12-inch skillet, cook beef over medium-high heat, stirring frequently until thoroughly cooked. Drain.
Reduce heat to medium and stir in taco seasoning. Cook 3 to 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Cool for 5 minutes.
Line a rimmed sheet pan with foil and spoon beef onto it, breaking apart as necessary.
Smooth beef into an even layer, covering the foil-lined pan.
Freeze about 1 hour, stirring once, until firm.
Divide mixture into quart-sized resealable freezer bags or containers with 2 cups of beef in each (the equivalent of 1 pound cooked beef). Seal bags, label and freeze up to 2 months.
