As if by magic, the cinnamon candies melt, giving this spiced cider a rosy glow.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 bottle (64-ounce size) apple cider
  • 2 cups orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons red cinnamon candies
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons whole allspice
  • 1 tablespoon plus 1 1/2 teaspoons honey

Steps

    Heat apple cider, orange juice, candies and allspice to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer 5 minutes.

    Remove allspice. Stir in honey. Serve warm.

    Allspice is also known as Jamaica pepper. These dried berries got their name because they taste like a combination of cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves.

    Be sure to buy whole allspice berries instead of ground. You can put them in a tea ball or tie them up in a piece of cheesecloth for easy removal.
