Ground turkey stands in for traditional beef in this lighter take on a creamy classic, made simple with prepared sauce mix.
Updated Apr 30, 2010

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground turkey
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 3 1/2 cups water
  • 1 package (1.5 oz) beef stroganoff sauce mix
  • 3 cups uncooked medium egg noodles (6 oz)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • Chopped parsley, if desired

Steps

  • 1
In 10-inch skillet, crumble ground turkey; sprinkle with pepper. Cook over medium-high heat 5 to 6 minutes, stirring frequently, until turkey is no longer pink.
  • 2
Stir in water, sauce mix and noodles; heat to boiling. Stir; reduce heat to medium-low. Cover; cook 6 to 8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until noodles are tender.
  • 3
Stir in sour cream. Cook and stir just until thoroughly heated. Sprinkle with chopped parsley.

Tips from the Betty Crocker Kitchens

  • tip 1
After stirring in the sour cream, don't let the mixture boil or the sauce will have a curdled appearance.
