Updated June 23, 2017

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
  • 1 medium bell pepper, chopped (1 cup)
  • 3 cups uncooked extra-wide egg noodles (5 oz)
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 jar (25.5 oz) Muir Glen™ tomato basil pasta sauce or marinara sauce
  • 1 jar (4.5 oz) sliced mushrooms, drained

Steps

  • 1
In 4-quart Dutch oven, cook beef, onion and bell pepper over medium heat 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until beef is thoroughly cooked; drain.
  • 2
Stir in remaining ingredients. Heat to boiling, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat; simmer uncovered 10 to 12 minutes or until noodles are tender.

  • For super-speedy cooking, keep bags of purchased frozen chopped onions and bell peppers available in your freezer.
  • For a more pizza-flavored dish, use two 15-ounce cans of pizza sauce instead of the pasta sauce and add 1/2 cup pepperoni.
