Follow these easy steps for the perfect breakfast pastry every time. And don’t forget—real butter is the key to an irresistibly tender crumb. MORE+ LESS-

1. Combine dry ingredients, stirring well with a whisk. Cut in cold butter using a pastry blender or 2 knives until the mixture resembles coarse meal.

2. Combine wet ingredients. Add to dry ingredients and stir until moist. Don’t overwork the dough in this step or it may become tough.

3. Pat dough into a circle on a cookie sheet lined with cooking parchment paper or coated with cooking spray.

4. Dip a knife in flour before cutting the scones to prevent the dough from sticking to the knife. Cut dough into equal wedges, cutting into, but not through, the dough. This allows the wedges to bake as one large scone; they’ll be moister than scones baked separately. Bake until golden brown.
