Great cake for little girls my friend made these cakes 25yrs ago don't know if this is how she done it but she always made them for little girls and she didn't have it on a cake stand w/ a ribbon it looks better...and she also didn't use the stars it really makes the cake...

I am so excited about making this cake for my 6yr old. It's so cute plus it will save us a lot of money. Instead of using food coloring, I just used the betty crocker pink frosting.

Wilton sells coloring gels that are better than liquid. You can get a kit of a bunch of colors...and they have pink too. I find that liquid coloring thins the frosting. The gel is perfect to get pale or brilliant color.

To Shenaz4U, yes, you can't actually buy pink food coloring anywhere that I've seen. Use red, but only put a couple of drops in the frosting. Stir it up and see if you like the color. It will be pink. If it's not pink enough, add a couple more drops.

WHEN I WAS ABOUT 6 YRS. OLD, I FAVORITE AUNT MADE THIS CAKE FOR MY BIRTHDAY. I'M PRESENTLY 68 YEARS OLD, SO THAT GIVES YOU A TIME FRAME OF HOW LONG THIS IDEA HAS BEEN AROUND. I'M SENDING THIS ONTO MY DAUGHTER-IN-LAW SO SHE CAN MAKE THIS CAKE FOR MY GRAND- DAUGHTER, KATELYN, WHO WILL TURN SIX IN DECEMBER, 2011. I KNOW SHE WILL BE THRILLED!!
