  • 1 Heat coals or gas grill for direct heat. In small bowl, mix all sauce ingredients. Cover and refrigerate until serving.
  • 2 In large bowl, mix all burger ingredients except rolls. Shape mixture into 6 oval patties, about 3/4 inch thick.
  • 3 Grill patties uncovered over medium heat 12 to 15 minutes, turning once, until no longer pink in center and thermometer inserted in center reads 165°F. Add rolls, cut sides down, for last 4 minutes of grilling until toasted.

Expert Tips

Burgers are more juicy and flavorful if you avoid pressing down on the patties while they're grilling.

Shape the patties up to 4 hours ahead of time. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until you're ready to grill.

I am so disappointed...I just made these and went to flip them on the grill and they completely fell apart. I have no idea what I did wrong. All I can guess is I used wild rice from a box kit?!?! They smelled delicious. I might try it again sometime and just not add the rice?

Don''t we all make what we have in the kitchen already? This recipe filled the bill. I am on the glycemic impact diet. I made this for my husband & I without the roll. The rice is carb enough. I also used canned turkey gravy, sliced mushrooms & onions. It kind of made a "salisbury steak" meal. Paired with a salad, this was a delicious dinner!
