SAVE ON THIS RECIPE!
The French word gratin refers to recipes that are topped with cheese or buttered bread crumbs before being browned in the oven. Gratin dishes are shallow, producing a broad surface area for the best part—the crispy topping.
Polenta is a mush made from cornmeal. It is available ready-to-eat and packaged in a plastic wrapper in the refrigerated section of the grocery store. It can also be found in the shelf-stable section of the store.
Assemble this recipe in four oval ramekins, evenly distributing the polenta slices, ham, cheese and sauce. Bake the gratins as directed until the cheese is lightly browned.
