Basil and Blue Cheese Salad

Enjoy this wonderful salad that’s made using salad greens, fruits, cheese and basil – a perfect side dish ready in just 20 minutes.

Ingredients

1/3
cup olive oil
1/3
cup seasoned rice vinegar
1
teaspoon country-style Dijon mustard
1/2
teaspoon salt
1/4
teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

cups mixed salad greens
1/2
cup firmly packed fresh basil leaves, coarsely chopped

ripe pears, thinly sliced
2
navel oranges, peeled, sectioned
2
avocados, pitted, peeled and sliced
1
cup crumbled blue cheese (4 oz)

Directions

  • 1 In small bowl, mix oil, vinegar, mustard, salt and pepper flakes with whisk.
  • 2 In large bowl, toss salad greens and basil. Add pears, oranges, avocados and blue cheese; toss gently. Drizzle with dressing. Serve immediately.

Expert Tips

The dressing can be mixed and refrigerated up to 24 hours before serving. Toss with salad just before serving.
