  • 1 apple, peeled and chopped
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Yellow Cake Mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Tres Leches Mixture

  • 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/4 cup Mexican table cream or crème fraîche

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 apple, peeled and sliced into ½-inch wedges
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Vanilla Frosting
  • 2 tablespoons chopped pecans

  • 1
Heat oven to 350°F. Spray 8-inch round pan with cooking spray.
  • 2
In a medium bowl combine 1 chopped apple and flour. Mix with a spoon to coat apple pieces. Set aside.
  • 3
In a large bowl, beat cake mix, water, oil and eggs with electric mixer on low speed until moistened. Then on medium speed for 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Fold in apple mixture and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon until combined.
  • 4
Bake 41-45 minutes or until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, loosen sides of cake from pan. Place platter upside down on pan; carefully turn platter and pan over to unmold cake. Let cake cool completely.
  • 5
While cake cools, whisk together sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk and cream in a medium bowl.
  • 6
Using a wooden skewer, poke about 15 holes into cake, and spoon milk mixture over cake. Refrigerate cake for 8 hours or overnight.
  • 7
Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add apple wedges, brown sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Cook, stirring frequently for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
  • 8
Frost the top of the cake, leaving a 1-inch border. Add apple mixture to the center and sprinkle with pecans. Slice and serve.
