Slow-Cooker Cinnamon Apples

Sweet cinnamon flavored apples stewed in a slow cooker make a wonderful one-pot dessert.

Ingredients

  • 6 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled, cut into eighths
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup maple-flavored syrup
  • 1/4 cup sweetened dried cranberries
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

    Spray 4-quart slow cooker with cooking spray. In slow cooker, toss apples and lemon juice to coat. Add brown sugar, walnuts, syrup, cranberries, melted butter and cinnamon; stir well.

    Cover; cook on Low heat setting 3 hours.

    In small bowl, stir together water and cornstarch until smooth. Stir into apple mixture in slow cooker. Cover; cook 3 hours longer or until apples are tender.
