cups Chex™ cereal (any variety)

cups checkerboard-shaped pretzels

cups sesame sticks

cup mixed nuts

tablespoons butter or margarine, melted

cup honey

tablespoons sesame seed, toasted*, if desired

    In large microwavable bowl, mix cereal, pretzels, sesame sticks and nuts.

    In 2-cup microwavable measuring cup, microwave butter on High about 30 seconds or until melted. Stir in honey and sesame seed. Pour over cereal mixture; stir until evenly coated.

    Microwave uncovered on High 5 to 6 minutes, stirring every 2 minutes, until mixture just begins to brown. Spread on waxed paper to cool. Store in airtight container.

Expert Tips

  • *To quickly toast sesame seed, cook in small nonstick skillet over medium heat 1 to 3 minutes, stirring frequently, until light golden brown.
  • To ease the load of last-minute preparation, make this snack mix up to 1 week ahead and store in airtight container.
  • Serve the snack mix in a purchased wine or potpourri bag.
  • Oven Directions: Heat oven to 275°F. In ungreased 15x10x1-inch pan, mix cereal, pretzels, sesame sticks and nuts. In medium bowl, mix remaining ingredients. Pour over cereal mixture, stirring until evenly coated. Bake 45 minutes, stirring occasionally. Spread on waxed paper to cool, about 30 minutes. Store in airtight container.
