Prepare the cookie mix according to the package directions for Cutout Cookies using the flour, butter, and egg.

Divide the dough in half. On lightly floured surface, roll each half of the dough to 1/8-inch thickness. With 3-inch and 1 1/2-inch heart-shaped cookie cutters, cut 12 cutouts of each size. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake 8 to 10 minutes. Cool on the cookie sheets for 2 minutes; remove from the cookie sheets to cooling racks. Cool completely, about 15 minutes.

In a medium bowl, beat powdered sugar, water, corn syrup, and almond extract until smooth; divide between 2 bowls. Tint each with food color as desired.

Dip the top of each cooled cookie into the glaze, letting excess drip back into the bowl.

Place a small heart cookie on top of each large heart cookie. Top with sprinkles. Let stand at room temperature until set, about 1 hour.
