Ingredients

Cake

Tres Leches Mixture

  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated)
  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon Mexican vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Whipped Frosting

  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Mexican vanilla extract
  • 4 drops pastel blue gel food color from 1 box Betty Crocker™ Pastel Gel Food Color
  • Betty Crocker™ Rainbow Sprinkles, for topping as desired

Instructions

  • Step
    1

Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan). Grease bottom and sides of 13x9-inch pan.

  • Step
    2

In a large bowl, beat water, oil, and eggs; stir in the cake mix.

  • Step
    3

Mix in 1/4 cup rainbow sprinkles. Pour into the prepared pan. Bake for 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Set aside, and let it cool for at least 15 minutes.

  • Step
    4

Meanwhile, stir sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, milk, 1 tablespoon vanilla, and cinnamon until well blended.

  • Step
    5

Poke holes using a chopstick over top of cake. If necessary, wipe chopstick occasionally with paper towel to reduce sticking.

  • Step
    6

Carefully pour tres leches mixture evenly over top of cake, working back and forth to fill holes. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or until cake absorbs the tres leches mixture.

  • Step
    7

In a large, chilled bowl, beat heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon vanilla, and food color until soft peaks form.

  • Step
    8

Drop frosting by spoonfuls over top of cake; spread evenly. Add sprinkles on top and enjoy.
