Camper's Fruity Oatmeal

Calling all campers. Here's a hearty breakfast to start your day in a delicious way. MORE + LESS -

Ingredients

cups old-fashioned oats
1/2
cup dried cranberries
1/2
teaspoon salt

cups water
1
can (15 oz) sliced peaches in syrup, drained
2
tablespoons chopped almonds
Brown sugar, if desired

    In resealable food-storage plastic bag, mix oats, cranberries and salt.

    In 2-quart saucepan, heat water to boiling. Stir in oats mixture. Cook over medium heat about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thick and creamy. Stir in peaches (chop if desired) and almonds. Sprinkle with brown sugar.

Expert Tips

  • Any combination of dried fruit and nuts can be used to make this oatmeal. If you're out picking berries, add those, too!
  • Pack single-serve coffee bags, tea bags and cocoa mixes for instant camper's drinks. The same hot water can be used to prepare all the beverages.
