Expert Tips

  • Replacing saturated fats with unsaturated fats from olives may help lower blood cholesterol. But fats are high in calories so keep portions small.
  • One-half cup of sliced, pitted olives can be used in place of the 2 1/4 ounce can of sliced ripe olives. Use your favorite olives, such as kalamata, Sicilian or Moroccan.
  • To ensure that there are large pieces of olive in the bread, add the olives to the machine at the fruits/nuts signal.
