  • PREP TIME 1 Hr 5 Min
  • TOTAL TIME 1 Hr 5 Min
  • SERVINGS 36

1
pouch (1 lb 1.5 oz) Betty Crocker® peanut butter cookie mix
3
tablespoons vegetable oil
1
tablespoon water
1
egg
1/4
cup favorite jam, jelly or preserves
1/4
cup Betty Crocker® Rich & Creamy chocolate frosting (from 1-lb container), if desired
  • 1 Heat oven to 375°F. In medium bowl, stir cookie mix, oil, water and egg until soft dough forms. Shape dough into 36 balls, about 1 inch each. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
  • 2 Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until edges begin to brown. Remove from oven and immediately make indentation in center of each cookie with back of spoon. Cool 2 minutes; remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely, about 30 minutes.
  • 3 Fill each thumbprint with 1/2 teaspoon jam. If desired, drizzle cookies with chocolate glaze. To make glaze, in small microwavable bowl, microwave frosting on High 10 seconds or until thin enough to drizzle.

Yummy cookies. Really tasted like PB&J! I didn't ball the dough up because it was a bit too soft so I just dropped by the spoonful and they came out fine. I didn't have a problem making the indentation either. This is a great cookie that kids will love and is easy to make.

Overall, fairly easy to make a large batch of these cookies. Only took about 30 mins. But instead of making an indentation in the cookies right when pulled out of the oven, it would be much easier to make it before putting it in the oven. I used a 1/8 tsp to make the indentation in my unbaked cookies and then popped them in the oven for 7 mins and allowed them to cool and then filled them in with homemade jam. I tried making the first batch by making an indentation after the cookies come out of the oven, but after the 8 mins as suggested by the instructions, the cookies were already done and not soft enough to make an indentation... instead, I ended up flattening the cookies and not really putting a little indent in it.
