cup packed brown sugar
1/4
cup shortening
1/2
cup molasses

cups Original Bisquick® mix

teaspoon ground ginger
1
teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2
teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8
teaspoon ground cloves
Icing
1
cup powdered sugar
1
tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon milk
1/4
teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 Heat oven to 350°F. Spray cookie sheets with cooking spray. In large bowl, beat brown sugar, shortening and molasses with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended. Beat in eggs. Stir in remaining cookie ingredients until well blended. (Dough will be sticky.)
  • 2 Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls about 1 inch apart onto cookie sheets.
  • 3 Bake 7 to 9 minutes or until light golden brown. Remove from cookie sheets to cooling racks. Cool completely, about 20 minutes.
  • 4 In small bowl, mix icing ingredients until smooth. Drizzle icing over cookies.

I thought these cookies were exactly as expected. A nice spice cookie and the icing adds a great sweet topping. Only complaint is that the recipe only made a small quantity!

these cookies are NASTY ~ I ended up throwing them away because NO ONE would eat them. No even my daughters boyfriend who will eat ANYTHING ! They taste like molasses-spice flavored biscuits
