cup Gold Medal® all-purpose flour

cup marshmallow creme

cup chopped maraschino cherries, well drained and 2 tablespoons cherry juice reserved for glaze
Chocolate-Cherry Glaze

bag (6 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips (1 cup)

tablespoons butter or margarine

tablespoon light corn syrup
2
tablespoons reserved maraschino cherry juice
  • 1 Heat oven to 350°. Grease rectangular pan, 13x9x2 inches, with shortening. Heat butter and baking chocolate in heavy 2-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly, until melted. Remove from heat. Stir in sugar, vanilla and eggs until blended. Stir in flour and salt until smooth. Spread in pan.
  • 2 Mix marshmallow creme and cherries in small bowl. Spoon by teaspoonfuls onto batter. Swirl lightly with knife.
  • 3 Bake 30 to 40 minutes or until marshmallow mixture is light golden brown. Cool completely, about 1 hour. Make Chocolate-Cherry Glaze; spread over bars. Refrigerate 30 minutes or until glaze is set. For brownies, cut into 8 rows by 6 rows.
  • 4 Method for Chocolate-Cherry Glaze: Heat chocolate chips, butter and corn syrup in 1-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly, until melted. Stir in cherry juice.

I made this recipe last year, twice, over the holiday's. My first attempt at making this came out OK,, but the outside of the brownies came out hard. I cut the cooking time down the second time, and they were perfect. These are recommended for anyone who has a sweet tooth and is a chocoholic. I plan on making them again this year and hopefully making it a tradition.
