Jerk seasoning and papaya add zip to this anything-but-ordinary grilled turkey and cheese sandwich.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices crusty bread, 1/2 inch thick
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/2 pound thinly sliced cooked deli turkey
  • 1 medium papaya, peeled, seeded and sliced
  • 4 slices (1 ounce each) Monterey Jack cheese with jalapeño peppers
  • 1/4 cup jerk seasoning sauce or fruit chutney

Steps

    Spread 1 side of each bread slice with butter. Place 4 bread slices butter sides down; top with turkey, papaya and cheese. Top with remaining bread slices, butter sides up.

    Cover and cook sandwiches in 12-inch skillet over medium heat 4 to 5 minutes, turning once, until bread is crisp and cheese is melted. Serve with sauce.
