Ingredients

  • 1 crust from 1 box (14.1 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Pie Crusts (2 Count), softened as directed on box
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon water

Steps

  • 1
Heat oven to 375°F. Lightly spray 10 regular-size muffin cups with cooking spray.
  • 2
Remove pie crust from pouch; unroll on work surface. Using 1-cup measuring cup, cut out 10 rounds from crust (you will need to roll the scraps to get all 10).
  • 3
In small bowl, mix vanilla and water. Lightly brush dough rounds with vanilla mixture. Fold each round in half, gently pinching middle to seal. Press thumbs into each side and bring together to form fortune cookie shape. Place in muffin cups.
  • 4
Bake 10 to 15 minutes or until lightly golden. Remove from muffin cups to cooling rack. When cookies are cool, insert fortunes.

Tips from the Betty Crocker Kitchens

  • tip 1
Make your own fortunes using vellum paper on your computer, then cut into strips, or save fortunes from Chinese takeout to reuse.
  • tip 2
Simple syrup can be substituted for the vanilla-water mixture.
  • tip 3
For a sweeter fortune cookie, sprinkle the dough rounds with sugar before shaping.
  • tip 4
When cutting the dough rounds, use a measuring cup for measuring dry ingredients, rather than one for measuring liquids.
