Chocolate Candy Cane Lush

Updated November 27, 2023

Light and fluffy, rich and chocolatey—a symphony of festive flavors and delightful textures come together in Melinda Sekela’s Chocolate Candy Cane Lush. This recipe is a creative spin on Betty’s Candy Cane Lush dessert, but it brings in a velvety chocolate cookie crust for that classic holiday pairing of chocolate and mint.

Melinda indulges in rich chocolate and the festive charm of candy canes to create her ultimate holiday dessert. A decadent double chocolate chunk cookie base, courtesy of Betty Crocker™ Double Chocolate Chunk Cookie Mix, makes the perfect backdrop for all the minty, fluffy goodness to come. The cookie layer is topped with heaps of velvety cream cheese, white chocolate pudding, cool whipped cream and crunchy bits of peppermint candy.

With their light and creamy filling, lush desserts are a perfect complement to heavy holiday meals. They’re also perfect for catching up with friends and family over the hectic holiday season. Wherever you might serve it, Melinda’s amazing Chocolate Candy Cane Lush is bound to become your favorite dessert of the season.

Melinda’s Tips

  • For an extra minty lush, add a ½ teaspoon of peppermint extract to the cream cheese layer.
  • Melinda prefers using round peppermint candies in this recipe because they have more red dye, which makes for an extra colorful dish. But if you don’t have those on hand, crushed peppermint candy canes will work just as well.
  • If you don’t have a mortar and pestle on hand, place the peppermint candies in a plastic bag, wrap the bag with a towel and use a rolling pin or a meat tenderizer to crush them.
