Pie! Quick!

Created January 10, 2017
No need to spend hours preparing homemade pie crust with this 1940s invention: Pyequick!
original packaging of Betty Crocker Pyequick

Beginning bakers rejoiced when Betty developed Pyequick, the instant apple pie mixture that nixed the need to spend hours preparing homemade pie crust. Marketed as “an entire pie in a package,” this ad from 1947 debuts the mix in all its glory—purposeful misspelling and all. Pyequick may be off the market, but if you’re still short on time, how about trying your hand at these Apple Pie Cupcakes? No crust-making required.
