How to Make Pumpkin Bread Video

It’s not officially fall until somebody bakes a loaf of pumpkin bread! This homemade pumpkin bread is a traditional take on this popular quick bread, spiced with cinnamon and cloves. Paired with a cup of hot coffee, nothing can beat this simple, cozy breakfast on a crisp morning. This recipe is fully loaded with raisins and nuts, but you can leave those out if you prefer. You could also swap in some chocolate chips or chocolate chunks. Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it—despite what you might think, pumpkin and chocolate really work well together! If you’d like to take this bread up another notch, you can use fresh pumpkin rather than canned. All you do is treat it like squash (because it is a type of squash!). Remove the pulp and seeds and cut it up into large chunks. Roast it at 375˚F until very tender, then peel the skin off once easily it’s cooled. Puree the pumpkin using a food processor or blender and you’re ready to bake. You can do this ahead of time and keep portions of pumpkin in your freezer to make bread, pie or soup later. And hey, don’t toss the seeds because roasted pumpkin seeds make a fantastic snack!
