Two-Sided Cereal Bars

These fun and delicious cereal bars play up differences through the magic of colored sugars and an imagination.

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 bag (10 oz) miniature marshmallows
  • 5 cups Cheerios™ cereal
  • 1 tablespoon red decorating sugar
  • 1 tablespoon blue decorating sugar

Steps

    Spray bottom and sides of 9-inch square pan with cooking spray. Spray large microwavable bowl with cooking spray; add butter and marshmallows. Microwave uncovered on High 1 to 2 minutes, stirring after 1 minute, until mixture is stirred smooth.

    Immediately stir in cereal until evenly coated. Pour cereal mixture into pan. With buttered back of spoon or buttered hands, firmly press mixture in pan until even.

    Cover half with piece of waxed paper; sprinkle uncovered side with red sugar, and press lightly onto cereal bar. Remove waxed paper, and cover red side; sprinkle uncovered side with blue sugar, and press lightly on cereal bar. Cool completely, about 30 minutes.

    Cut into 6 rows by 2 rows. Store bars covered at room temperature.
