Ingredients

tablespoons butter or margarine

cloves garlic, finely chopped
1/4
cup pine nuts
1/2
teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2
teaspoon salt
1/4
teaspoon pepper

lb fresh spinach, stems removed

tablespoons water

    In 4-quart Dutch oven, melt butter over medium heat. Cook garlic in butter about 5 minutes, stirring frequently, just until golden. Stir in pine nuts, nutmeg, salt and pepper.

    Reduce heat to low. Gradually add spinach; sprinkle with water. Cover; cook about 5 minutes or until spinach is wilted. Serve immediately.

Expert Tips

Slivered almonds or pecan halves can be substituted for the pine nuts.

Look for bags of prewashed regular or baby spinach leaves in the produce aisle, and save 5 to 10 minutes of preparation time.
