Calling all you vegetarian snack lovers, this one's for you! From Betty Crocker Snacks cookbook, Bugles snacks and almonds get coated with a buttery, sweet and slightly spicy caramel coating that's tossed with pretzels and caramel candies. Delicious!

Ingredients

  • 4 cups Bugles™ original corn snacks
  • 1 cup salted roasted whole almonds
  • 1/3 cup caramel topping
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper (cayenne)
  • 2 cups mini pretzel twists
  • 1 cup (about 28 from a 10.6-oz bag) unwrapped chocolate-covered chewy caramels

    Line 15x10-inch pan with sides with waxed paper; set aside.

    In large microwaveable bowl, add corn snacks and almonds. In small bowl, mix caramel topping, melted butter and red pepper; pour over corn snack mixture; toss to coat.

    Microwave uncovered on High for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring every minute, until corn snack mixture is evenly coated and caramelized. Spread in pan, spreading pieces apart. Let stand until completely cooled, about 30 minutes.

    In large serving bowl, toss coated corn snack mixture with remaining ingredients.

Tips from the Betty Crocker Kitchens

  • tip 1
    Work quickly to toss the snack mix after it's been microwaved, so the caramel mixture will stay hot and fluid enough to coat the ingredients.
  • tip 2
    Notch up the red pepper for more heat. Or, add dried 1/2 cup sweetened dried cranberries with the pretzels for a delicious twist.

    Store snack mix in covered container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
