Honey Spiced Winter Squash

Sweet and buttery, this simple sauce will transform baked squash into a stellar side dish.

Ingredients

  • 3 medium winter squash (acorn, delicata or carnival all work well)
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/3 cup honey

Steps

    Heat oven to 375°F.
  • 2
    Scrub squash to remove any dirt. Cut squash in half lengthwise; remove seeds and fibers. Arrange cut side down in ungreased shallow baking pan. Surround with 1/2 inch hot water.

    Bake 30 minutes.

    Mix remaining ingredients. Pour off water from baking pan, and turn squash cut side up. Pour mixture into squash cavities.

    Bake 15 minutes longer.
