Ingredients

  • 3 medium winter squash (acorn, delicata or carnival all work well)
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/3 cup honey

Steps

  • 1
    Heat oven to 375°F.
  • 2
Scrub squash to remove any dirt. Cut squash in half lengthwise; remove seeds and fibers. Arrange cut side down in ungreased shallow baking pan. Surround with 1/2 inch hot water.
  • 3
    Bake 30 minutes.
  • 4
Mix remaining ingredients. Pour off water from baking pan, and turn squash cut side up. Pour mixture into squash cavities.
  • 5
    Bake 15 minutes longer.

  • Cutting a squash in half can be difficult. If you’re not completely confident in your knife skills, there’s no shame in asking for some help.
