Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano leaves
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1 loaf (1 pound) French bread, cut into 16 slices

Steps

  • 1
    Heat oven to 400°F.
  • 2
Stir together all ingredients except bread. Spread mixture over both sides of bread slices. Reassemble loaf and wrap securely in heavy-duty aluminum foil. Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until hot.

Tips from the Betty Crocker Kitchens

  • tip 1
Other herbs can be used in place of the parsley and oregano. You may never make the same bread twice!
  • tip 2
Really running out of time? Store-bought garlic butter makes a great base for this rich, buttery spread. Stir in Parmesan, parsley and oregano, and spread on bread.
