Ingredients

  • 1 cup finely chopped fresh pineapple
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped fresh strawberries (6 large)
  • 2 kiwifruit, peeled, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange peel
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons fresh orange juice
  • 1 bakery fruit-and-nut loaf (16 oz), cut into 14 (1/2 inch thick) diagonal slices
  • 7 teaspoons butter or margarine, softened
  • 7 teaspoons cinnamon-sugar

    Set oven control to broil. In small bowl, mix pineapple, strawberries, kiwifruit, orange peel and orange juice.

    Spread each bread slice with 1 1/2 teaspoons butter. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Sprinkle each slice with 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon-sugar.

    Broil with tops 4 to 6 inches from heat 1 to 2 minutes (rotating pan halfway through cooking time, if needed). Top toasted bread evenly with fruit mixture.
