Chewy Chai-Spiced Blondies

Add some spice to your dessert with these chai-inspired blondie bars. They’re a cinch to make, which is a great thing, since they’re known to disappear!

Ingredients

Blondies

  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Yellow Cake Mix
  • 3/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Topping

  • 1/4 cup white vanilla baking chips

    Heat oven to 350°F. Spray bottom only of 13x9-inch pan with cooking spray.

    In large bowl, beat Blondie ingredients with spoon until well blended. Spread in pan.

    Bake 24 to 28 minutes or until golden brown and toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely, about 1 hour.

    In small microwavable bowl, microwave chips uncovered on High 30 to 45 seconds or until chips can be stirred smooth. Drizzle with fork over top. Cut into 6 rows by 4 rows. Store covered in airtight container at room temperature.

    Chai is the Hindi word for tea, which is often made with milk and spices such as cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, nutmeg and pepper.

    Cardamom can be purchased either in pods, as seed or a powder. Cardamom pods hold up to 20 small seeds. This strongly fragrant spice has a slight lemony-sweet flavor with a touch of pepper and ginger.
