Tres Leches Apple Cake

Any time Ericka Sanchez sees an opportunity to put a tres leches spin on a classic cake recipe, she takes it. So it comes as no surprise that she found Betty’s Warm Caramel Apple Cake ripe for her signature Mexican-inspired twist!

Marrying her fall craving for apple desserts with her year-round love for tres leches, Ericka takes Betty’s original recipe on a few tasty twists and turns. First, she swaps apple pie spice for cinnamon. She also soaks the cake overnight with a tres leches mixture, turning the warm upside-down cake into a cold, milky right-side-up cake.

For decorations, Ericka uses Betty Crocker™ Rich and Creamy Vanilla Frosting, a buttery mixture of cinnamon apples and, to polish it all off, a sprinkle of chopped pecans. The texture of the chunky apples inside and out of the cake combined with the milk mixture is Ericka’s ultimate favorite part about her cake, and we have to whole-heartedly agree!

This delightful treat will quickly become one of your favorite desserts of the season. It’s perfect for special occasions or a great way to satisfy your own apple craving. But if you’re planning to make this recipe for a gathering, Ericka does have a quick word of advice: plan ahead! This dessert requires refrigeration time, but we guarantee it’s well worth the wait.
