Hi, I’m Barrett, an enthusiastic home baker and music professor living in the Dallas, TX area. I started baking at a young age, inspired by the amazing desserts both of my grandmothers made. During graduate school, I began baking for my classmates’ music recital receptions, and before I knew it, I was being hired to bake for events in the community.

In 2021, I made it my New Year’s Resolution to bake all 105 recipes in Claire Saffitz’s book Dessert Person. It was a monumental challenge, but I completed it, learning so much and making so many wonderful friends, both in real life and online, along the way!

Betty Crocker has been part of my baking journey from the very beginning. My grandma Mary frequently referenced her vintage Betty Crocker Cookbook, and to this day my favorite Betty Crocker products are the SuperMoist cake mixes—they turn out absolutely perfect every time.

While I mostly share my baking projects, I also enjoy cooking savory dishes, usually vegetarian or pescatarian. One of the things I love most about baking is how it brings people together. The kitchen is the heart of the home, and when something’s baking or cooking, it always draws people to the table.

Along my journey, I’ve been fortunate to meet and collaborate with so many inspirational bakers, including Claire Saffitz, Zoë Bakes, and Joy the Baker.

“When I think about Betty Crocker, the first thing that comes to mind is comfort, nostalgia, and creativity. My first introduction to Betty was from my grandma, Mary. She would have us over for dinner probably once a week, and every recipe came from the Betty Crocker cookbook.”
