When it comes to warm-weather snacking, reaching into the freezer for a frosty treat is practically a reflexive choice. But sometimes the most convenient frozen delights aren’t necessarily the healthiest. On a mission to find a quick-fix frozen snack that wouldn’t ruin our appetites, we turned to a calcium-packed, calorie-controlled fridge staple—Yoplait Greek 100—and put it to work coating our favorite snacks and popping them in the freezer. The results? Surprisingly delicious and oh-so very easy to execute! Here’s how we did it.
To start, raid your pantry for a mix of fresh, premade, crunchy, salty, sweet and chewy snacks. We used: red grapes, blackberries, Golden Grahams cereal, Nature Valley Soft-Baked Oatmeal Square (broken into bite-sized pieces), pretzel twists and Fruit Snacks. Use your imagination and think outside the box when deciding what to coat in yogurt. (We were skeptical of the fro-yo covered fruit snacks at first, but they wound up being our favorite!)
Next, pick your favorite flavor of Yoplait Greek 100. With an array of scrumptious flavors, from decadent (Boston Cream Pie, Banana Caramel, Strawberry Cheesecake, Blackberry Pie) to fruity (Strawberry, Peach, Black Cherry, Pineapple) and everything in between, there’s bound to be a flavor to suit your fancy.
Now get to dipping! While it’s easy to dunk your snacks directly into the yogurt cup, we found with smaller snacks, like the Golden Grahams and fruit snacks, it’s easier to roll them in yogurt that’s been spread out on a plate, using a fork to help you lift the snacks out of the yogurt.
Once your snacks are coated, pop them on a parchment-lined cookie sheet and stick it in your freezer. In a couple hours, your frosty snacks will be ready to enjoy!
