This pull apart bread is so fun to serve, we love how you can literally pull away layers of soft dough dotted with cinnamon-sugar and apples. To make this apple cinnamon pull apart loaf, you will need flour, yeast, sugar, milk, oil, baking powder, baking soda and salt for the dough. Then, you will need apples, butter and cinnamon for the filling.
First, combine milk, sugar and oil together in a saucepan. Turn the heat to medium and bring everything to a simmer. The sugar will dissolve into the milk.
After it comes to a simmer, turn off the heat and let the mixture cool down. We’re going to add some yeast next, so the milk cannot be hot, only warm.
Once the milk has cooled some, stir in 2 cups of flour and some yeast. Then, cover with a dishcloth and let rise for about an hour. It should double in size.
See how it has doubled? Now, add 2 and 1/2 more cups of flour, a little baking soda, baking powder and some salt.
Now is a good time to heat your oven. While it heats to about 350°F, you can roll the dough into a 20-inch by 12-inch rectangle. Slice dough into 5 4-inch strips, and then slice crosswise 6 times, making 4-inch by 2-inch rectangles.
Now, cover the dough with a mixture of melted butter, cinnamon and sugar.
Add sliced apples then stack the dough and place into a loaf pan.
Bake 25 to 35 minutes or until golden brown on top. Let the loaf cool then top with a simple vanilla glaze.
