There aren’t many flavor pairings better than chocolate and orange. The milky richness of chocolate is the perfect balance to the bright citrus notes of an orange. Putting the two together in a biscuit is a no-brainer and a delicious way to sweeten up your family’s morning routine.
These biscuits are incredibly easy, taking just 15minutes to make, and requiring only five ingredients that are likely already in your pantry. I don’t know about you but I love a simple recipe and this one is about as good as it gets.
To get started, gather your ingredients together and heat your oven to 450°F. Line a cookie sheet with cooking parchment paper.
In large bowl, mix Bisquick mix and orange peel zest. Add milk; stir until just incorporated. Gently stir in chocolate chunks. Drop dough by the spoonful onto your cookie sheet.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until golden. Remove from sheet and cool on a cooling rack.
In small bowl, beat powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons of the orange juice with whisk. Add additional orange juice as needed until thin enough to drizzle. Drizzle over cooled biscuits. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
With no additional sugar in these biscuits, they aren’t overly sweet, allowing the dark chocolate and orange zest to shine through. However, the drizzle of orange icing adds just enough sweetness to make you feel like you’re eating dessert for breakfast.
