Scroll down, follow the steps and make hot chocolate bombs your new trick in the kitchen.

Get prepared, get inspired, and make sure you have the following tools at hand to pull off these delicious hot cocoa bombs. You will need;

  • 2 semi-sphere silicone baking molds
  • Spoon or basting brush
  • Chocolate (of your choice—milk, dark, white. Chocolate morsels or wafers work well.)
  • Hot cocoa mix
  • Marshmallows and other flavors of your choice (peppermint, sprinkles, etc.)

You're all set and ready to mix up some magic. Here we go...

  1. Cut your chocolate as finely as you can, so you don't have any big chunks (You'll thank us later for this tip), and then melt the chocolate either in the microwave or on the stove until it is a smooth, glossy liquid. (For tips on how to melt chocolate, learn more here.)
  2. Fill the molds by using the spoon or basting brush to fill all along the edges of the half-circle mold. (Expert tip: Make sure the top of the edges is as thick as the chocolate in the bottom of the mold!) This helps keep your bombs consistent and strong.
  3. Time to chill for a while. Pop the molds into the freezer for 10 minutes to set. This will allow the chocolate to take shape and make those beautiful spheres that you're after.
  4. Let's pick up where we left off. Take the molds out of the freezer and pop the chocolate half circles out of it. Be careful with this step, you don't want to break those spheres!
  5. Time to make the magic happen. First portion out your hot cocoa mix and marshmallows so they're ready. Next, melt the edges of the half spheres by warming a plate and setting the half spheres upside down on the warm plate. This should only take a second or two.
  6. Fill half of the half spheres about 3/4 of the way with your favorite hot chocolate mix and marshmallows.
  7. Attach an empty half with a full half to form a sphere! Do this with all of your spheres until you have all the hot cocoa bombs you could ever dream of.
  8. Now for the final touches. Your hot cocoa bombs should look as magical on the outside as they are on the inside. Decorate by drizzling with extra chocolate and dipping in toppings like sugar crystals or sprinkles.
  9. Now for the best part of your cocoa bomb journey. To use: Warm up an 8oz. mug of water or milk and drop in a hot chocolate bomb, stir and let the fun begin!
