Expert Tips

Ground turkey or pork instead of the ground beef is a nice change for these sandwiches.

These sandwiches are great for casual get-togethers or tailgating. Serve with chips and a tray of raw veggies and dip. Top off the meal with brownies.

Garlic pepper is a zesty blend of garlic powder and cracked pepper. Look for it with the other spices at your supermarket.

Have you ever been surprised by a recipe in a good way? I definitely was tonight with this dish. It was so easy to make. Brown the beef, chop the veggies and cheese, then mix it all together in the slow cooker. My honey said these reminded him of old-fashioned loose meat sandwiches, like from a diner. A hearty, easy, delicious and cheap dinner I will be making again.

Recipe was alright, just a little bland...so I added cream of mushroom soup and dry onion soup mix to the recipe...a little salty so I do add a little milk. My family loves this and I sometimes put the mixture on small dollar/sandwich buns and take to parties.

Had a very bland taste and was less impressive than I anticipated. Probably won't try it again.
