1
can (21 oz) peach pie filling
2
cups frozen sliced peaches, thawed
1
cup Original Bisquick® mix
1
tablespoon sugar
1/4
cup milk
1
tablespoon butter or margarine, softened
Additional sugar, if desired
Ground nutmeg, if desired
  • 1 In ungreased 8-inch square pan, spread pie filling and sliced peaches; place in cold oven. Heat oven to 400°F; let pie filling and peaches heat 10 minutes.
  • 2 Meanwhile, in small bowl, mix Bisquick mix, 1 tablespoon sugar, the milk and butter with fork until soft dough forms.
  • 3 Remove pan from oven. Drop dough by 6 spoonfuls onto warm peach mixture. Sprinkle with additional sugar and nutmeg.
  • 4 Bake 18 to 20 minutes or until topping is light brown.

Expert Tips

Multitask--heat the pie filling and peaches while the oven heats to the right temperature.

Heating the peach mixture before adding the biscuit topping ensures that the dough bakes through completely.

For some reason, I thought Bisquick + canned pie filling might add up to something more appetizing than this. Not only is it bland and flavorless, the Bisquick dumpling is dry, dry. I was at least hoping for something passable for a quick dessert. Silly me. The peaches with some ice cream were okay though.

I substituted blackberry pie filling and frozen blackberrys for the peaches. Next time it will be three berries! My favorite.
