I used to make cupcake cones when my kids were little for their birthdays (they are in their 20's now). Flat bottomed cones with some batter. I would then let their friends decorate them. I would put out both chocolate and vanilla frosting, and various toppings, such as sprinkles, mini M&M's, etc. While they did not look as fancy as these, the kids all loved to make their own cones.

if your worried about it being too much sugar for your kids make it a week treat. they eat it through out the week.
