If there’s anything I’ve learned over the years when it comes to special occasions, it’s that stressing out over the meal is a real mood killer—and completely unnecessary. Whether it’s a birthday, anniversary or Valentine’s Day, the last thing you want to be doing is spending time in the kitchen instead of with your sweetie.

I’ve had to learn the hard way. There was the time we ordered Thai takeout for our anniversary because the gnudi disintegrated or the time the cheesy pasta for my husband’s birthday turned to mush and, as a result, I did, too.
