Pineapple adds tropical flavor to this tasty ham sandwich made in slow cooker.
pounds fully cooked smoked ham, chopped
cup packed brown sugar
cup Dijon mustard
cup chopped green bell pepper
tablespoon instant minced onion
can (20 ounces) crushed pineapple in juice, undrained
sandwich buns, split
Mix all ingredients except buns in 3- to 4-quart slow cooker.
Cover and cook on Low heat setting 4 to 5 hours.
Stir well before serving. To serve, fill each bun with about 1/4 cup ham mixture, using slotted spoon. Ham mixture will hold on Low heat setting up to 2 hours; stir occasionally.
Spray the inside of the slow cooker with cooking spray just before using to keep cleanup to a minimum.
For a super-easy party menu, serve these sandwiches along with an assortment of salads from the deli and a cheesecake from the bakery.
Give these sandwiches a Hawaiian flair by threading one or two chunks of pineapple onto frilly toothpicks and inserting them into the top of each sandwich.
