1 1/2
lb boneless beef round steak
1/2
teaspoon peppered seasoned salt
6
to 8 small red potatoes, cut into fourths
1 1/2
cups ready-to-eat baby-cut carrots
1
medium onion, sliced
1
can (14.5 oz) Muir Glen® organic diced tomatoes with Italian herbs, undrained
1
jar (12 oz) beef gravy
Chopped fresh parsley, if desired
  • 1 Cut beef into 6 serving pieces. Spray 12-inch skillet with cooking spray; heat over medium-high heat. Sprinkle beef with seasoned salt. Cook in skillet 6 to 8 minutes, turning once, until brown.
  • 2 In 4- to 5-quart slow cooker, layer potatoes, carrots, beef and onion. In medium bowl, mix tomatoes and gravy; spoon over mixture in slow cooker.
  • 3 Cover; cook on Low heat setting 7 to 8 hours. Sprinkle with parsley.

Note: This recipe was tested in slow cookers with heating elements in the side and bottom of the cooker, not in cookers that stand only on a heated base. For slow cookers with just a heated base, follow the manufacturer’s directions for layering ingredients and choosing a temperature.

Expert Tips

(Total time will vary with appliance and setting.)

Leaving the peel on the potatoes not only retains nutrients but also helps potatoes keep their shape. Just scrub and cut as directed.

Peppered seasoned salt is one of the newest varieties of seasoned salt available in the supermarket. If you can't find it, use regular seasoned salt and sprinkle the beef with pepper, or you can just use salt and pepper.

I loved this recipe. I did tweet it a bit for the steak I soaked it in marinade sauce browned in a skillet and cutt them. I followed the direction all the way thru but I added my own spices to it because without it the steak meal comes out a little bland(msp) The spices I used was italian seasoning, red pepper crushed seasing, course pepper, salt(of course) and garlic powder and onion powder and it all came out awesome. Another thing I didn't do was cook it in my slow cooker because the cooker need more cleaning than I thought but I did make it over the stove in a large soup pot on low heat for 4 hrs and for the next 3 hrs I turn it to warm and it was great. If you want serve it over rice thats great to but it came out awesome. At one time I hated to see people tweet recipes but you have to make it your taste bc we all are different. This recipe gets 5 stars!!!!

This was awesome! My husband and his friends enjoyed this recipe sooooooooo much. I let it cook on low for 8 hours and once it was done I added a little bit of salt. Everything from the vegetables to the meat was tender. I will be making this again.

Very good! We will definitely make this again. I added mushrooms and garlic powder, per review suggestions. The meat was very tender. Also, I only cooked it for about 5.5 hours (the 1st hour on high, the rest on low) and everything was done.
