1
pouch (1 lb 1.5 oz) Betty Crocker® peanut butter cookie mix
3
tablespoons vegetable oil
1
tablespoon water
1
egg
2
tablespoons sugar
36
heart-shaped milk chocolate candies
  • 1 Heat oven to 375°F. In medium bowl, stir cookie mix, oil, water and egg until dough forms.
  • 2 Shape dough into 36 (1-inch) balls; roll in sugar. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • 3 Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until light golden brown. Immediately press chocolate candy into top of each cookie. Remove from cookie sheets to cooling racks. Cool completely, about 20 minutes, before storing in tightly covered container.

Expert Tips

For even baking, make sure cookies are the same size.

Cookie dough can be covered and refrigerated up to 24 hours before baking. If it's too firm, let stand at room temperature 30 minutes.

these were delicious. i also made them for my boyfriend for valentines day, but i made them a few days ahead of time. they stayed fresh and were even more delicious. instead of plain sugar i used colored sugar crystals (red for valentines day) and they were beautiful!

I made these for my boyfriend on Valentines Day. We both loved them and they are delicious, but the Dove chocolate hearts I used never hardened even hours after the cookies cooled off. Maybe because they are really thick? Not sure but I won't use Dove chocolate hearts next time.

I have made these before and used kisses. I also used colored crysals- dessert sprinkles mixed with my sugar, you can use any color. I used red and green because I made them for Christams and they were pretty and festive.
