cup Corn Chex® cereal

cup Rice Chex® cereal

cup Wheat Chex® cereal

cup Honey Nut Cheerios® cereal

cup toasted sliced almonds

cup dried banana chips

cup dried blueberries or raisins
  • 1 In small bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon.
  • 2 In large microwavable bowl, microwave butter uncovered on High about 40 seconds or until melted. Stir in cereals and almonds until evenly coated. Microwave uncovered on High 2 minutes, stirring after 1 minute.
  • 3 Stir in sugar mixture and banana chips until evenly coated. Microwave uncovered on High 1 minute. Spread on paper towels; cool about 15 minutes. Place in serving bowl; stir in blueberries. Store in airtight container.

Expert Tips

Each Chex® cereal adds its own oven-toasted flavor and special crunch, but you can use any combination of your favorite Chex® cereals.

Layer the mix with your favorite yogurt in a disposable covered container for a parfait-to-go!

Other dried fruit can be substituted—try sweetened dried cranberries or dried apples.

Couldn't be easier. Has a nice mix of flavors. Next time, I will use whole almonds as the sliced almonds are more like large crumbs than pieces of cereal mix to pick up to eat, as this is a finger food ... to-gos like this are to be eaten without a spoon. I used half raisins and half dried cranberries for the half cup dried fruit.

I think that it sounds wonderful but I don't think that my kids would eat it because there are too many "hard" foods in it like the banana chips and almonds. And by the way, per 100 grams, there are 10 grams of sugar in raw apple, 12 grams in raw banana, 15 grams of sugar in Thompson grapes, 15 grams in sliced mango, 9 grams in pineapple. Fruit comes with sugar.

There are 10 grams of sugar, PER SERVING. This in not healthy at all, and would be a horrile breakfast. Give this to your child, and all they get is a sugar high. There are much better and tasteier ways to get a high fiber breakfast.
