Sometimes you find new flavors that taste so good together they just pop. Orange and prosciutto are two ingredients I’ve found pair wonderfully with each other.
Did you ever come across two new flavors when trying a recipe or just experimenting with food and fall in love with something new? Well, that’s how I stumbled upon pairing prosciutto and oranges.
Living in south Florida, we always have an abundance of oranges, and I am constantly experimenting with fun ways to use them. I have done sliced oranges in salads with prosciutto and onions, and I’ve added them to both warm and cold pasta dishes. I have even grilled the oranges and served them with chopped prosciutto. I’ve enjoyed it all!
But recently, I created these beautiful crostini featuring orange and prosciutto. I love them! They take only minutes to make with some simple ingredients, and they are beautiful and delicious.
I start with a basic crostini from the grocery store, where I can find them in the bread aisle or the cracker section. I usually have packaged crostini in my pantry and reach for them quite often when trying to make a simple appetizer. (You can also use a sliced crusty French baguette.)
These little toasts can be made just before company arrives because they literally take only minutes to prepare.
The end result winds up being one of the prettiest little crostini you ever laid your eyes on. Everyone will think you are some sort of gourmet chef when you serve these delectable treats.
