Slices of this bread—chock-full of apple chunks and walnuts—are great for a portable breakfast.
Fresh apples are available all year long but are especially plentiful this time of year. Lots of apple bread recipes call for shredded apples, but I wanted to not only taste apple but to see nice chunks in every slice.
After several tries (too dry, too moist, sunken center, really dry and crumbly), I came up with this recipe for a bread that was just right!
It’s easy to double this recipe and bake two loaves at a time. They make great gifts and freeze well, too.
