Spiced Nuts 'n Chex® Mix (1/2 Recipe)

Like your Chex® cereal mix hot? Try this 30-minute version with red hot chili powder and red pepper spice.

2tablespoons sugar
1 1/2teaspoons chili powder
1/8teaspoon ground red pepper (cayenne)
2tablespoons butter or margarine
1cup Corn Chex® cereal
1cup Rice Chex® cereal
1cup Wheat Chex® cereal
1cup mixed nuts (from 11.5-oz can)
1.In small bowl, mix sugar, chili powder and red pepper.
2.In large microwavable bowl, microwave butter uncovered on High about 30 seconds or until melted. Stir in cereal and nuts until evenly coated. Stir in sugar mixture until evenly coated.
3.Microwave uncovered on High 3 to 4 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes, until mixture just begins to brown. Spread on waxed paper; cool about 15 minutes. Store in airtight container.
Oven Directions: Heat oven to 300°F. In small bowl, mix sugar, chili powder and red pepper. In ungreased 13x9-inch pan, melt butter in oven. Stir in cereals and nuts until evenly coated. Stir in sugar mixture until evenly coated. Bake uncovered 25 to 30 minutes, stirring after 15 minutes, until mixture just begins to brown. Spread on paper towels; cool about 15 minutes. Store in airtight container.
